I am looking for my great grandmother's parents Joseph and Margaret. I do know that Joseph's parents were Joseph Doane b: 1782 in VA and Mary "Polly" Tuders b: 1800 in SC.

Sherry,I am researching this line, also.A lot of conflicting info. If you go to genealogy.com,look at messages 201,236,214,577,215,289. I have a Joseph Doan that was my GGgpa. His daughter, Ollie Jane b.1865 m. Robert Melvin Eldridge. They had a daughter they named Margaret so I'm wondering if we might be connected. My Ggma Ollie was Cherokee and had a full headress she said was her grandad's. Would love to share info with you. There is also a pedigree chart at LDS that shows a George Doan married to Princess Morning Star, who is Polly Tudor's mother, but I'm not sure that's correct.

YES! But to confirm, where did you find this info? The 1910 KY miracode states that my Ggma, Ollie (Olivia) Jane was b. in KY in 1865. She had married Robert Melvin Eldridge and was living with my Ggpa in Bell Co at the time. I have been unable to find a birth record. I did find her gravesite, Hensley Chapel cemetery, Middlesboro, KY. I learned her nickname was "Little Grannie".

My Doan relatives in Ky. have really been generous in sharing what they know, sharing old letters and oral histories, Laurel Co., Ky census-1850, I went back to Ky. a few years ago. Piecing together info bit by bit for six years and using common sense!
I thank you for your info. Its' one more piece to the puzzle. I come through another son of Joseph Sr., Wm. Henry(He went by Henry)-b-1822-m- Elizabeth Reams through John R.-B-1856-m- Mary Ellen Wyatt in 1887 and had my father John Delbert-b-1909-d-1948. I've got more info on Doan(e)s' etc. We're related somehow!

My Doane (Done)s family split in the 1850s-1860s because of the Civil War. Some went to Rockcastle Co. Ky. from Clay and Laurel Counties in Ky.

I am a descendant of a Joseph Doan born after 1782 in VA, who died before 1870 in Rockcastle County, KY. He was married to Mary "Polly" Tudors (actually Teaters) about 1817. She was the daughter of Stephen Teater and Princess Dawn. Mary was born about 1805 in South Carolina and died after 1870 probably in Rockcastle County, KY.

The information I have about a Joseph Doan being married to a Margaret Hood is this: Joseph Doan was born about 1822 in KY, and died after 1880. He married Margaret A. Hood December 28, 1843 in Laurel County, KY; she was the daughter of John Hood and Martha Henderson. Margaret was born June 1830 in KY, and died after 1904.
They had the following children: George A. (about 11846 Laurel Cty, KY); Charlotte (1849) married James Grabeel, 11-7-1887, Rockcastle Cty, KY.
James H. "Jack" (1852, Laurel Co. KY: died after 1910)
Sarah Embry Doan (4-15-1853, Laurel Co. KY; died 4-18-1942 Rockcastle Co. KY
Emily J. Doan(b 1856 - d before 8-1881 Rockcastle Co. KY
Martha A. F. Doan (b about 1858) married J.W. Woodall born about 1867.
John R. Doan (b. about 1861) married Mary M. Mink (b 3-1865) Rockcastle Co. KY
Mary M. Doan (b 11-1862) married Jeremiah M. Bullock, (b 1-22-1880), Rockcastle County, KY she died between 11894-1900.
Elizabeth Doan (b. about 1864)
Rachel S. Doan (b. about 1871-d. 7-26-1956, Rockcastle Co. KY.
Hope this information can help.

My ggg-father was Joseph Doan (born after 1782 in VA). He was married to a Mary "Polly" Tudors (actually its Teaters). They were born in North or South Carolina. She is the daughter of Stephen Tudor (Teaters) and Princess Dawn. She was born around 1805 and died after 1870 in Rockcastle County, KY.
This is the second story I've heard of Cherokee Indian wives in my genealogy. My gg-mother was Nancy Jane McClure-Doan married to Jacob Doan, son of George W. & Rachel Storm Doan.
This is the first time hearing of more Indian genealogy.
