Surnames: McNulty
Married Alice Rourke in 1887, Victoria, Australia = 9 children.

Alice McNulty died in 1943, Preston, Victoria, but I cannot find the death of James Patrick Joseph McNulty?

It is toted that he was born in 1865 in Victoria, but as I cannot find this birth, was wondering if he was born in Ireland?

Really appreciate any help. Thank you. Maggie

Maggie,
Index re his marriage to Alice shows his name as James Philip (maybe a mistranscription) and born South Yarra.

Digger - Pioneer Index. Victoria 1836-1888

Surname: MCNULTY
Given Names: James Philip
Event: M
Spouse Surname: ROURKE
Spouse Gvn Names: Alice
Sex: M
Birth Place: STH YARRA
Year: 1887
Reg Number: 3231

There is a birth for a James McNulty registered in 1866 in Malvern which is next door to South Yarra.

Surname: MCNULTY
Given Names: James
Event: B
Father: Michael
Mother: Sarah KEOGH
Birth Place: MALVERN

Also of interest an Alice McNulty of Fitzroy Street signed the Women's Suffragette petition.

No sign of James with Alice in the 1914 Electoral Roll.

Thank you so much Jackie. Yes, mistranscription in marriage certificate.

Their last child Iris Astremar Mary McNulty was born in 1908 in Carlton, Victoria.

That would mean the James Patrick Joseph McNulty would have died after 1908. He was only 43yrs old then.

Thank you once again for your help Jackie - need all the help I can get. Regards Maggie

Maggie,
Perhaps James and Alice separated?
His brother Henry Francis, enlisted in WW1 and gave his address as 3 Tempany Street, Fitzroy, which is the same address as Alice in the 1914 Electoral Roll. His next of kin is his sister-in-law, Mrs. McNulty - not his
brother.

Henry Francis McNULTY

Regimental number 1073
Religion Roman Catholic
Occupation Driver
Address 3 Tenpany Street, North Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria
Marital status Single
Age at embarkation 44
Height 5' 5.25"
Weight 196 lbs
Next of kin Sister-in-Law, Mrs. McNulty, 3 Tenpany Street, North
Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria

There is a burial for Henry Francis McNalty at Fawkner - (another mistranscription?)

DECEASED INFORMATION

Fawkner Memorial Park wishes to advise that the location of the buried remains of the late Henry Francis Mcnalty aged 48 are located at Church Of England: Compartment I Grave 354.

Within this location you will find:-

Surname Given Names Service Date
MCNALTY Henry Francis 24/04/1922
MCNULTY James 15/12/1927

Do you think he could be buried with his brother James?

Jackie

I think Jackie could be onto something as the Jas who died in 1927 was 62 (death reg in 1928, reg 2082?), if that is the right one. HIs parents are shown as unknown.

Hy Francis McNULTY's death shows his father as Hy, mother unknown. But could be an informant error. Though I can't see a birth in Vic to Michael & Sarah for a child by this name...so was he a brother?

Sadly I can't find death notices for either of them in the Argus at NLA Trove.

If that is his birth then he also had several other siblings, including a sister named Sarah, who died in 1957 in Caulfield aged 94 (as HASKETT) (reg 8851).

Thanks Jackie.

I have a Henry Francis McNulty son of James Patrick Joseph, who was born in 1893 but died in 1894. As same names usually seem to run in the family, there is every liklihood that it is the one. If he died in 1922 aged 48yrs that would mean he was born c1874, which means that he could be his brother. James Patrick Joseph was born c1866. I'll work on this theory and see how I go. Thank you so much for your help. Really appreciate it. Kind regards Maggie

I noticed there was a Patrick James McNULTY in 1942 at the Mental Hospital, Mont Park, occ: attendant- not sure if a patient or employee

Also - Henry Francis McNULTY was discharged from the army with 'senilty', so maybe he died in a similar hospital as James

I don't know what happened to William Daniel or M McNULTY, the drapers....am hoping there is a connection to see if a parent's name ever shows up!

Probably way too much info again, but anyway, I hope someone finds something new

Hi Maggie

in an earlier post you said James Philip M was a typo on the marriage record - do you have the actual marriage cert? if so, could you please post all the details?

Thanks
