Bonny: I am interested in how your Jacob fits into the earlier Burkholder families of Franklin co. Do you know who your Jacob's parents were or his grandparents? I am sorry that I do not know anything about Jacob's descendants. I do, however, have a complete set of the Burkholder Family Reunion Reports, and would like to try to tie your Jacob into one of those families. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Ruth,

I'm a descendant of John A. Burkholder who lived in Fort Louden in the mid to late 1800's. His wife's name was Cora, children: Haddie, George, Sue Ella, and Joseph (my great grandfather). Does this ring any bells? I'd love to know more about John's ancestors.

Thanks in advance.

I am descended from Martha Burkholder (1804-1891) of Franklin County. She married Jacob Houser (1794-1864). They are both buried in Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Franklin Co, PA. Do you have any information on them? Thanks for your help.

Much time has passed since you entered your query about Jacob BURKHOLDER and you may have learned the answers to your questions. In case you have not, I have some information on his ancestors and descendants. Jacob was born 16 OCT 1801 in Guilford Township, Franklin Co., PA. He died 11 AUG 1854 in Guilford Township and is buried at Salem Church cemetery, near Marion, PA, which is between Chambersburg and Greencastle just off Route 11. Ringing Bells for me. Just starting to pull together the Burkholder lineage for my Mothers Family. My grandmother was Cora Francis Burkholder, born 1898. I'm pretty certain she was born in Fort Louden. Her Father was "Ed" Burkholder and mother Maggie R. Burkholder.

I'm adding John A. to the list as probably related.

Thank you
