Tom, I sent this message on 5/20 to your private e-mail address. Thought I would send it again since I had not heard anything, wasn't sure you received the message. Sorry if it is a duplicate.

original reply:
Thanks for answering so quickly. I have a real mystery regarding the Menasco & Seay family lines and am not sure how I connect to either one or both of the lines. I sure hope that you can shed some light on things for me.

Here is what I can confirm to some degree:

Isabella Seay/See was born about 1819 in Tennessee. She married a John Goodwin and they had one child, Susan Mary Ann born in 1844 or 1846 in Mississippi. Family stories state that Susan and Isabella shared the same birthdate of 1/29. John was kidnapped and killed in November 1848 in Kinglsand, AR. No documents found to confirm this.

According to the 1850 and 1860 census records Isabella remarried a Robert Beasley/Beasly. In 1850, Robert, Isabella and Susan are living in Magazine, Yell Co., AR, 1860 they are in Perry, Perry Co., AR. Isabella died sometime in 1867 and is buried in Kingsland, Cleveland Co., AR.(no death record found or cemetery location) Susan married Thomas Gilbert McCoy and they were living in Kingsland, AR in 1867. They had a daughter in November 1867 that they named Donal Isabell Hasseltine McCoy. I suspect that she was named in honor of Susan's mother, Isabella. No clue where the name Hasseltine comes from.

Now here is where the unproven part comes in. The story goes that Isabella (Belle) Seay had two sisters, Polly and Molly and that their grandfather was General Willam Manasco who served in the War of 1812. Story also states that John and Isabella were born in Cario, Illinois. Census shows that Isabella was born in Tennessee.

Another cousin shows:

William Manisko (1780-1884)
Elizabeth Manisko married Joe Goodwin
John Goodwin (1822-11/1848) married Polly Sea
Susan Mary Ann Goodwin (1848-1905) married Thomas Gilbert McCoy
Julia Lou Ella McCoy (1889-1984) my grandmother

As of today I have not been able to find a death certificate for Susan MA Goodwin McCoy or for Isabella and John Goodwin. All I have to go on is stories handed down through the years. Also, I have not been able to find anything on a William Manasco or one who served in the War of 1812. I have no idea who the parents of Isabella Seay were or if she had any siblings. Census records for 1850 & 1860 both state she was born in Tennessee not Illinois.

What I am hoping is to find out who the parents of Sarah (Sally) Seay were and if Isabella was tied into them in some way. My parents divorced when I was under 5 and I never met my father until 1986 by which time his mother was already gone. His mother is the one who told the other grand kids that her grandparents were Belle Seay and John Goodwin and that her great or G-G-grandfather was General Manasco who served in the War of 1812.

I have a good deal of information on the Manasco line but until I can tie in Isabella Seay to the line, I am at a standstill. I sure hope that you have some ideas. Thanks for your time and really appreciate the help.
