Dorothy F. Knolles, 83, of RR1 Ulster, Pa., (Sheshequin Twp.) passed away Saturday morning April 3, 2010 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, N. Towanda Twp., Pa., following a brief illness. Born Sept. 14, 1926, in Wilmot Twp., Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret Tinen Saxe. On March 17, 1947, she married Donald F. Knolles. The couple just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Dorothy loved her family and her home. Her life revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, and pets. In earlier years she loved to garden and can the produce that she grew. Dorothy always had a big Sunday dinner ready for the whole family. Surviving are: her husband, Donald F. Knolles at home; her children, Daniel and Kathy Knolles of Athens, Pa., Clyde and Monica Knolles of Ulster, Pa., Kay and William Green of Hornbrook, Pa., Ruth and Jim Jones of Athens, Pa.; her grandchildren, Donald, Eric, Christopher, Earon, Jeffery, and David Knolles, Todd Green, Jason Jones, Lisa Green-Preston, Nicole Secules, Michelle Gordon, Julie DeLill, Taunya Rosenbloom and Elizabeth Jones; 24 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Smith of Endicott, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Alice Saxe of Brackney, Pa., Florence Knolles of Wyalusing, Pa.; brother-in-law, John Malik of Vestal, N.Y.; her faithful dog, Rascal. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Martin "Mark" Knolles in 2004; an infant son, Donald; and an infant daughter, Fay. She was also preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, at the Bowen-Farr Funeral Home, 6 Gordon Farr St., Ulster, Pa., with the Rev. Sandy Brant, pastor of the Ulster United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Sheshequin Valley Cemetery, Sheshequin Twp., Pa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be to St. Ann's School Playground Fund, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843 in Dorothy F. Knolles memory.

Martin Thomas "Mark" Knolles, 56, of Ulster RR 1, Sheshequin Township, formerly of Towanda, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 29, 2004, at Memorial Hospital, North Towanda Township. Born Aug. 22, 1947, in Wilmot Township, he was the son of Donald and Dorothy Saxe Knolles.Mark was a graduate of Athens High School. He was employed by the Ingersoll-Rand in Athens for over 32 years until declining health no longer permitted him to continue. He was a member of the Bradford County Four Wheelers Association and Pennsylvania Off Road Short Track Association, life member of the Last Minute Racing Team, co-owner of Team Knolles ATV Racing Team and a MOPAR enthusiast. Mark enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took a special interest in his grandsons' wrestling activities.Surviving are his children, Chris Knolles of Athens, Michelle Renee Knolles Gordon and her husband, Stephen Gordon, of Towanda, and David Thomas Knolles Sr. of Sheshequin; three grandchildren, Stephen Gordon, Marissa Gordon and David Thomas Knolles Jr., all of Towanda; his parents, Donald and Dorothy Knolles of Sheshequin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Kathleen Knolles of Athens, Clyde and Monica Knolles of Ulster; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Bill Green of Hornbrook and Ruth Ann and Jim Jones of Athens; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Patricia Sue Williams Knolles of Hornbrook and Bessie Johnson of Towanda. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with the Rev. Ronald Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Sheshequin Cemetery, Sheshequin Township.
