Surnames: Mackay; Hancock
Hi,
I'm looking for any information on my grandfather John Daniel Mackay born 4 May 1913 (benalla victoria)and passed away in 1984. He was married to Gladys Violet Hancock. On the 24 May 1939. They had 4 children together.
All I seem to be finding is electoral records, no matches on birth, death or even marriage certificates.

I'm travelling to Scotland in June and would really like to vist the home of my ancestors but I need help finding them.

Can anyone help me??

above info from a Tree,

They arrived 20 Aug 1851

if you search the PRO assisted passengers you will see there were 2 McKay babies - Donald and James aged 0 months

They had 8 children in Victoria

I think I found Georgina with parents and siblings in 1841:

MUNRO, Thomas M 45 1796 Ag Lab Sutherland

MUNRO, Elizabeth F 4 1837 Sutherland
NK, One Male M 35 1806
Address: Auldyfurst, Auldyfurst, Farr County: Sutherland

needs checking out - looks like Dorothy might be a second marriage for Thomas

seems both parents died...as these are the remaining children:

1851
MUNRO, Kitty Unmarried F 26 1825 Farmer 1 Acre
Farr, Sutherland
MUNRO, Donald Brother Unmarried M 19 1832 Labourer
Farr, Sutherland
MUNRO, Betty sister Unmarried M 15 1836 Farr, Sutherland

actually decided to check for Thomas and found this - he has moved to Caithness ( where Donald McKAY came from:

1851

Hope this helps a bit - there are no births registered for RDM and LAM apart from the first one, Robert James M ( I have tried many combinations and nothing is coming up)
