I would appreciate if SKS who has access to the 1841 Census for the parish of Duthill could review the film to establish the ages of the McGregor family that resided at Gartenbeg. I know that the ages of persons over age 15 were rounded down to the next 5 or 0.

Thank You

Yes John, they both replied direct which I certainly appreciate very much. The James McGregor that we think was born in the parish of Duthil and according to his age on the Gravestone in the Inverallan Cemetery, it is estimated that he was born circa 1768. It has been suggested that he enlisted in the Strathspey Malitia after the birth of a son, Peter (Patrick), 1n 1792 and served in that Regiment until it was disbanded at Stirling Castle in 1799. A couple of books have been written about the history of this Regiment but unfortunately they do not include a Muster Roll. I have made tentative inquires at the National Archives in Edinburgh to establish if in fact the List of Enrolments in this Regiment are included in the Seafield Papers (Archive Ref. No. GD 248/213/5-7)

Perhaps SKS will take the time to review this document for us.

Will talk to you later!

John,
I have checked through the bundle that I received from Pat and the Dixon document that you mention does not appear to have been included. I look forward to reviewing this document - snailmail will do just fine considering the information it may contain is over 200 years old !
