I am looking for any information on my grandfather Victor Travord Durling of Nova Scotia, Canada. He was born as Victor Travord Butler and assumed the Durling name but not through legal adoption. Birthdate unknown but died around June 12, 1978 or 1980, possibly in Montreal Quebec. He acquired his last name from Joseph and Sophie( Anderson) Durling. He has a set of twin girls in Nova Scotia. His biological mother is belived to be Susan {Hann} or {Hamm}Butler, father's first name unknown. Both parents are believed to have died in the Halifax Explosion in the early 1900's.OR his father is also believed to have died in fishing boat accident off Newfoundland. His first wife was Rose {Bruce} Durling who died in Kingston Nova Scotia in 1946 of TB.Any information would be greatly appreciated, possibly his obituary. Thanks

The only Victor Butler shown in 1911 census(pre Halifax Explosion) is'
40 187 Butler James V. M Head M Apr 1882 29 1901 Links
41 187 Butler Elizabeth B. F Wife M Aug 1888 22 1901
42 187 Butler Beatrice C. F Daughter S Jun 1908 2 1901
43 187 Butler Victor F. M Son S Oct 1910 8/12 1901 This appears to be the right age as he lists himself as 23 when he married Rosie. It is east to confuse a capital F with a T when writing in cursive. In June of this year the 1921 census will be released and you may well find more information. Good luck, Karen PS 1901 census shows father and family of Victor F.
