My gggrandfather was born in 1795 in we think Greenbrier Co. VA (WV) We think his father Christopher was from PA. He settled in Nicholas Co. WV. His name was Peter Shaffer, had brothers George, Christopher, sister Mary, Elizabeth and Phoebe. I don't know if there is some relations but I thought I'd throw that out there. Marie Shaffer

Pamela,

I am looking for Aaron Shaffer, who would have been born abt. 1796 in Virginia. Aaron was living in Preston Co., Va. when the 1850 Census was taken. I am hoping to find information on Aaron's first wife and children from his first marriage, as well as who his parents were and his siblings. His second marriage was to Sarah Davis and they had 12 children - Jane, Louisa, Lovina, Margaret, Aaron, James, Samuel, Robert, William, George, Joshua, and Ida. Do any of these people connect with your line? Do you know any information on Aaron or his family. I am willing to share information and I hope that we have a connection here.

Thanks,
Wendy

Wendy,
Thank you for the confirmation that Aaron had two marriages I have not found that info yet but suspected from the info that I do have.

I was looking for info on Aaron Shaffer and came across your rootsweb query. I am not part of the family I am just putting together trees using the info provided in a newspaper article. The names in the article do no get picked up in a search so I am trying to get the info in a form that will be picked up.

I found a newspaper item in a 2005 West Virginia newspaper which gives bio's of the different people from the area who fought in the Civil War. The item runs in a series over months of the newspaper issues with lots of info about the civil war people.

Wendy,

I forgot to mention that I did a FamilySearch.org search on Aaron Shafer and got hits about the children he had with both wives. You may want to look at that web site and use both "Shafer and Shaffer". I will try to remember to update you if I come across any other new info.
Take Care.
