It would be more helpful to post on the board for Shiawassee County Michigan where she lived
http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.mic...

1860 census, Owasso, Shiawassee Michigan
John N. Ingersoll, age 44, editor, born New York
Harriet M. Ingersoll, age 41, born England
Sarah A. Ingersoll, age 20 (children all born Michigan)
John Ingersoll, age 11
Hattie Ingersoll, age 16
Charlotte Ingersoll, age 9
Walter Ryn?s age 16 apprentice printer

In 1850 it looks like they were in Detroit

I was hoping to find one of Harriet's parents or siblings living with them, but no luck.

Have you googled John Ingersoll? There may be information on Harriet in one of his biographies.
