US Papers - Would Hospital be a location?

US Papers - Would Hospital be a location?

Hi there,

Just wondered if the name of this hospital would be considered a location?

The keyer has not keyed it, but I know we key church names if no other location is mentioned, so thought it might be the same with a hospital.

Cheers,
Sue

I don't believe so - church name was a specific exception to the normal rules about keying locations; I wouldn't extend this to a hospital without guidance from WAP.

Mitch

Thanks Mitch,

How to I find out if WAP wants to include the hospital name or not?

Cheers,
Sue

Sue,

Ask worldarchivessupport@ancestry.com, or try a message to Anna (annafechter).

I think we could key the hospital as the field is "event location". We key 'at sea', etc, so I think a hospital could be keyed too.

Thanks Mitch & Karen,

Really appreciate your help. I have sent an email to Anna asking for her take on this.

Hi Mitch,

I have tried for a week to get an answer on this hospital location thingy. I have send an email direct to Anna (and I am sure she possibly receives heaps of emails daily), I have also sent a message to the link that you gave me, but so far I am not getting any responses.

Does it usually take this long? I only have a couple of days left before that image set will go back into the loop and I don't want that to happen before I try and resolve this.

Any ideas?

Cheers and have a great weekend!
Sue

Sue,

I don't really know how long a response normally takes, so I can't help there.

My opinion is: since hospital name has so far not been explicitly allowed as a location entry, don't enter it (but I'm sure others would say it couldn't hurt to leave it in).

That probably wasn't very helpful...

Best regards,
Mitch

Mitch,

Cheers! I also had a bit of a chuckle at your response, no offense!

Mmm, thinking about what you said, hospital has also not been explicitly dis-allowed as location, so I will wait a couple more days (I have until the 23rd) and see if I get a response.

I know Ancestry has had a lot of problems recently. I have been trying for the last week to update my details so that my renewal could take place and it would not let me. Everything is now fine and working properly since they made some changes on Friday 19th July.

Since I was trying to send messages during that same time I wonder if it would be worthwhile sending them again. Could not hurt I guess. Worst case scenario is that they receive it twice!

What are you doing up this early???

Enjoy your Sunday,
Cheers,
Sue

Up this early? It wasn't where I am (US Eastern time zone).
