I am Looking for information on Rufus Milton Staples/ Adkins. In some record like his draft card and birth records for is children his last name is Adkins some others are listed as Staples. He was born May 11,1885. I am unsure of his death date. I know he was killed in Mortmer, NC in a Cotton Mill he was working in. Lottie Adkins was his mother or adoptive mother she was born around 1868 and was married briefly to Robert Staples who was born in Mississippi in 1840 according to the census records. They had several children:Pearl Ann Adkins b-Feb. 26, 1909 d-Dec. 29, 1974. She was married to Floyd Oaks until he died and then Edward Lyons.Millie Adkins b-05/09/1906 d-05/14/1991 was married to Holtsclaw. Mary Adkins b-1913 married Willie Oaks. John Adkins b-12/03/19-15 or 18 d-06/05 1943 or 48. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Burnie/Bernie Cooper in my line that I believe was married to Millie Adkins. This is based on a 1937 Martin County birth record for an unknown Cooper, child of Burnie Cooper and Millie E. Cooper. I later have Burnie married to a Donnie (?) Cooper. Don't know if this info will help you or not.
