Surnames: Peacock, Smith in Derry and Antrim
I am researching Peacocks and Smiths in Derry and Antrim. Below are extracts from an 1831 census remnant...two Neal Peacocks. There are no Neal Peacocks in Griffith's Valuation (presumably gone to Scotland by that time). The Parish of Ballyrashane is mostly in Derry but several townlands are in Antrim.

BALLYRASHANE Parish, DERRY
The townlands in Derry are:
*Articrunnagh, Ballindreen, Ballynag, Ballyvelton, Ballyversal, Cloyfin, Glebe, *Gorticloughan, Islandeffrick, Kirkistown, Knocknekeeragh, Lisnagalt, Liswatty.

BALLYRASHANE Parish, ANTRIM
The townlands in Antrim are:
Ballywatt, Bushmills, Windyhall

I think Crimagh and Clougham in the census transcription are short forms for *Articrunnagh and *Gorticloughan. This census was transcribed a number of years ago from an LDS film. I have tried to find it again without luck, but suspect it is listed under Derry or Londonderry (not Ballyrashane or Coleraine).

Vol. 9 - Parish of Ballyrashane in Liberties of Part of Coleraine
(Remainder of the parish is in Barony of Dunless, Antrim Co.)
p. 1 - Robert Peacock, 4 Ballyversal, 4 males, 4 females, Presb.
p. 4 - Mary Peacock, 9 S. Crimagh, 3 females, Presb.
...... - Neal Peacock, 20 S. Crimagh, 5 males, 3 females, Presb.
...... - Hugh Peacock, 21 S. Crimagh, 3 males, 1 female, Presb.
...... - William Peacock, 25 S. Crimagh, 4 males, 3 females, Presb.
p. 3 - James Smith, 4 Crimagh, 3 males, 3 females, Presb.
p. 7 - Neal Peacock, 24 Clougham, 2 males, 2 females, Presb.
p. 10 - Wm Smyth, 22 Liswatty, 2 males, 1 female, Presb.
........ - Matthew Smith, 9 Ballymagy, 3 males, 7 females, Presb.
p. 13 - Simmon Smith, 19 Govey(?)sflush, 1 males, 1 female

I suspect that my ancestor is the William above. My ancestor, Thomas, came to Canada in 1865-66 with adult children Catherine and Frederick and younger children John, Hugh and Robert.
