I'm curious as to whether you ever had a reply to this.

I'm doing the FT of William Biggs, born 1852 in PA. I realize he remarried after Nancy Ellen Walker (can't find ANYTHING on her), because he appears on the 1910 census with Mary as his wife.

Today I was looking at the 1900 census, but I'm not sure that is him. His mother, Mary, says she was born in Canada. On all other censuses, etc. William's mother and father are born in Ireland. Also - I believe he was born in 1852.

Was Mary Durkin married to McDonald before Biggs? I can't seem to find her birth anywhere.

I'll be interested in your reply - hope you're still working on this.

Thanks, Mary L

Mary,

You are the only reply, sorry to say.

Yes I am still working on this line and many more.

Here is what I know of this family:
Mary born 1861 married to ? Mcdonald in 1883 and believe moved to Ohio where ? Mcdonald died. Mary returned to Hanover Township with children Jane, Anne, Alexander, William, James, Mary and Cathrine. Believe she married William Biggs 1903 per the 1910 census.

I believe that is the right William in the 1900 census - he is a widow and 2 of his children from the 1880 census with Nancy is Mary age 24 and Joseph age 20.

Depending on who is giving the information to the Census taker - there seems to be mistakes in age, empolyment, etc. I have run across age discrepancies alot, so keep looking for more info to help. Per the 1910 and 1920 census I believe you are close 1952-53.

Are you related?

Good luck in your search

Jenys Ann,
Thank you for replying - based on the Census records you are correct on the family, my great grand aunt Mary Durkin married William Biggs which was (if I am correct) your maternal grandmothers father after Nancy died in 1899. Let me know if this sounds correct.
Thanks again for your info

Tom, I must have missed your reply somehow in 2009. I'm not related. My daughter lives in Kempner, TX and is the partner of Bryan Biggs (b.1963), son of William Ellison Biggs (b.1922)and Nancy Gwendolyn Champion (b.1928, Penzance, England). Bryan is the youngest of 13 children.

If you like, I can send send you the Biggs FT, if you like and if you send your E-mail address to me at lilychap@cox.net. I worked with Bill Biggs, Bryan's brother, on the FT. That was a few years ago now, so I'm sure there is a lot more to add.
