I found the husband and have more on this family if anyone is interested in this line.
Campbell Hurst m. Anna Eliza Stephenson Dec. 2, 1838 in Tazewell Co., Va.
Children:{I HAVE FOUND SO FAR}
George W. b. Jan. 1838
Campbell W. b. Jan 7, 1841
John b. abt. 1842
Isaac James b. Oct. 9, 1843
Henry b. July 31, 1845
Annie b. abt. 1846
Susan b. abt. 1848
Malinda b. July 1850
Elizabeth & Maryann b. Nov. 14, 1852
James M. b. July 10, 1855
Hamilton "Ham" b. Mar. 21,1858

I think Campbell is the son of John & Unknown Hurst of Va. and that he had siblings; Susan b. abt. 1821 {m. James Cotton} & George b. abt. 1827 {m. Mary Stephenson}.

Some of them are buried in Greenup County including Hamilton and Anna Liza. I found this on the county website some time ago. I didn't write down the web address.

This family appears in the 1850 and 1860 Morgan County, KY, census. (1850 - household 483; 1860 West Liberty, household 413). Missing in the censuses are children Campbell W. and the twins. Campbell W should at least be inthe 1850 census. In the Greenup County graves, along with Anna Liza and Hamilton and others, I see C. W. Hurst, First Lieutenant, Confederate Cavalry, born 1/7/1841, d. 6/4/1902

Thanks Mary,
I found them. I also have them without father Campbell in 1870 Elliott Co., Ky.
Anna E. 52
John 28
Isaac 26
Annie 24
James 15
Hamilton 12

Haven't been able to find them in 1880 yet. Maybe I am missing them somewhere. I know that Hamilton married in Greenup Co. in 1880, but couldn't find the family there.

As for C. W. Jr. not with the family in the 1860's he may have already gone into War before the census was taken. Just a thought.
Do you have or know anything about the son John? Was told his name was John Bailey Hurst.

Mary here is the link to the Hurst Cemetery list in Greenup Co., Ky.
In the Library in Ashland, Ky. there is a book and in it the graves are numbered so that you can match up who is beside of whom.

No, I don't know much about any of them. Campbell Hurst is the one I'm looking for. Maybe C.W., Jr. is my man. We're looking for Campbell who may have married Charity Compton around 1863 and fathered 4 children (Thurston, James Marion, Genevia, & Noah Hurst). Campbell is named on death certificates as their father, but we can never find them with him. Charity started out in Virginia (Tazewell & Russell Counties), but James & Thurston give their birthplace as Logan County, WV. (went to the Logan Courthouse, but no birth records exist there for the years 1860-1870) We have found several Campbells, but can make no connections. This C.W. is one that I was unaware of. Maybe I need to recheck the Logan census for 1860. He could have been living with relatives (if not in the military). If he was born in 1841, he would have been 19 in 1860, old enough to enlist or to have left home, for that matter. I wonder why he wasn't in the 1850 census. He would have been only 9.

I am also looking for a Campbell Hurst. He was my ggrandfather. Know a great deal about him but cannot locate his parents. He was born c1847 in Tennessee and died in Kentucky in 1873. He married Mary Rice d/o Benjamin A. Rice, had 4 children. I think he is connected somehow to John (Long John) Hurst family but I cannot prove it. He also, I think, has a connection to George W. Wilson. Can you shed any light on the above. Thanks.
