I am looking for information on my grandparents family, Their names were Benjamin & Wupke Oldenburger who came to the US from Nieuwe Schans, Groningen, Holland and settled in Iowa. I know my grandmother came to the states in 1902 with her parents (Frederick & Geertje (Steinhuis) Oldenburger. I don't know when my grandfater came but it was before my grandmother. I know my grandfather's family (Gerrit & Harmke Oldenburger Nee Jansen) sponsored my grandmother's family. My grandmother had two sisters (Trientje & Anje) who married and moved to Minnesota. Their married name was Moerke. I would also like information on the Moerke family.

I've got a Wilhelmina Moerke in my ancestral files. She was born in Finsterwolde on Nov. 15 1877. In her birthrecord she's mentioned as Willemtje Moerke, but when she emigrated to the USA in 1901 her firstname changed into Wilhelmina. She died May 29 1915 in Campbell Minnnesota.

Her parents where Jan Moerke and Wubbina Luikens.

Wilhelmina was married with Derk Hector. His first name changed in the States in Richard Tobias. Derk or Richard Tobias Hector was born June 13 1875 in Oudedijk (near Beerta and Nieuwe Schans). He died June 26 1950 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Hello,
Are you still working on this side of the family? My grandfather is the son of Anje (Oldenburger) and Jan Moerke. I would be happy to share what I have on their family and the Trientje and William Moerke families.

My great-grandparents immigrated from Holland. They were Benjamin and Gertrude Oldenburger. Ben and Gertruded were first cousins, so her maiden and married name were the same. Their children were Fred, George, Henry, Ben, John, and Emma. Fred was my grandfather and his daughter, Mary Oldenburger Baldwin, is my mother.

Ben and Gertrude lived in the Waverly, Iowa, area.

Thank you,
Kim (Baldwin) Bunce

Ben and Gertrude are in he 1910 census in Iowa with children Fred and George..........Ben immigrated in 1782 and Gertrude in 1892 this they did not cross the pond as husband and wife.....
You have to search the 1900 census to get Gertrudes parents or get her death record, she died in 1978, b 1887...Same for Ben, get his death record..If you have their borthdates post them so ohers may assist you in Holland
