Hello,
My wife's gggrandfather Matthias Schneider (1824-1891) is buried in Honey Creek. Matthias was known to be a Catholic, and I know that there is an closed catholic church/cemetery in Honey Creek and would be curious to know its name.
thanks
Steve

Virgil,
Thanks for the information.
It's interesting, I got a reply from Ann at Devine Mercy Parish who was able to tell me that his wife (Barbara Wachter) was buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery, and that Matthias was buried in Honey Creek. They had no additional information on Matthias other than the Honey Creek reference.
Looks like I'll have to keep looking.
Thanks
Steve

Steve,
There is a Barbara Schneider buried at Our Lady of Loretto Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery.
Inscription:
Barbara Schneider, Geb. Feb. 14, 1810. Gest. Feb. 24, 1889. R.I.P.
On the other side of the tombstone is:
John Schneider, Geb. Juni 22, 1808. Gest. Feb. 14, 1886. R.I.P.
Their memorials are at Findagrave.
Barbara's memorial #64959588
John's memorial #64959587
This Barbara is probably not the one you're looking for?
Do you know the parent's name of Barbara Wachter? I'm researching the Wachter family.
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
My Barbara was originally, Barbara Joseph, daughter of Anton Joseph and Katarina Kohl. Barbara was born in Malborn, Trier, Rhineland, Prussia on 3/2/1843, and died on 3/20/1920 in Sauk County, WI).
She married Matthias Schneider in the Heddert village of Malborn in 1868.
She came to the US w/ Matthias between 1869-1879; the family immigrated w/ Mathias's two children from a previous marriage Johann (1858) and Margarethe (1861) and their daughter Anna (1869). A final son Bernhard was born in Sauk County in 1879. The family in the 1880 census was shown to be living in Honey Creek.
Ann at Devine Mercy Parish informed me that Matthias died on 3/15/1891, and was buried on the 3/18/1891 in Honey Creek.
Barbara married Peter Wachler (son of Peter Wachter and Kunegunda Bels) in Sauk County on 10/04/1892.
Peter died on 5/23/1902 and is buried w/ his 1st. wife Magdalena Schafer in Saint St. Norbert's Catholic Cemetery (Find A Grave Memorial's 74820361 + 74820184). After Peter's death she would live w/ her son Bernard (according to census records).
Barbara Joseph Schneider Wachter (according to Ann at Devine Mercy Parish) is buried in Saint Aloysious Cemetery (Find A Grave Memorial# 104152664 - I created this memorial)
To make things interesting?
Barbara's daughter Anna would marry Adam Joseph (son of Jacob Joseph and Elizabeth Schneider) born in Springfield, Dane, WI. Don't know if the Joseph's and Schneider's listed were related, but I would not rule it out.
Barbara's son Bernhard is reported to have married Peter Wachter's daughter (obit has her as Barbara and gravestone has her as Lena) (Find A Grave Memorials# 74234338 + 74234151).
I have no records of what happened to either Johann or Margarethe Schneider from Matthias's 1st. marriage.
Now you know as much as I do.
Steve
