I believe the James Franklin Wagnon you are seeking info on is my great uncle. His parents are Thomas Foreman Wagnon and Lucinda Marie Sixkiller Wagnon. His grandparents names were Crickett Sixkiller and Deborah Whaley Sixkiller. His wife, according to our records, was Mary William Barrett and his daughters were Lola, Thelma, and Lis. We have been trying for years to contact members of his family and would appreciate any help. Contact me at sej_oswacujo@earthlink.net.

What time period? If her mother was a Sixkiller, then she no doubt had Native American ancestry. See my last email to this list for suggestions on info on finding such folks, especially from the late 1800s. (I recognize this surname in particular, as it is a fairly prominent -and catchy- one.) Have you done a google.com search on that name? There are also books on Cherokee families that may have something on them. (I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the author of the best of these offhand, but he was also on one of the commissions enrolling Native Americans on government rolls in that period.) If you are lucky enough to be in or near OK, there are probably plenty of genealogical sources/libraries there. The DAR library in Wash., DC also has several books on Cherokee families, but the roll applications are the best.

Strangely, there are only two Sixkiller entries in the US census index for 1910 - Mabel 19, and Sam 35, both single and both in Moskogee Co. Too many John Gibbs to single one out.

From the 1860 US census:

SIXKILLER DEBRO 35 F W GA AR INDIAN LANDS CHEROKEE NATION 1860

SIXKILLER PERMELIA 30 F W GA AR INDIAN LANDS CHEROKEE NATION

These two were next door to each other in AR. ("Debro" is probably Debra.)

Rose:
John Henry Gibbs (1867-1950) and his wife Edith (Wagnon) Gibbs (1875-1934) resided in Nowata, Oklahoma, where they are both buried at Nowata Memorial Cemetary.
Edith's brother (Marshall J. Wagnon) is my grandfather.
The records we have show that their children are Thomas H. Gibbs (1895), Virgie (Gibbs) Reavis (1900), Nellie (Gibbs) Vaught (1902-1989), Preston F. Gibbs (1905-1973), Jay Warren Gibbs (1908), and Johnny Gibbs (1913).
I also have that John H, is the son of Henry B. and Nancy (Sparks) Gibbs. Henry's parents were Jeremiah M. and Nancy T. (Lord) Gibbs. Nancy (Sparks) Gibbs was the daughter of Drury and Nancy Sparks.
I would appreciate any additional information that you can supply on this family.
