These marriage records should answer your question about a divorce. I have no idea where in Amherst Co., or maybe Nelson Co., VA, they are buried. (Nelson formed from Amherst in 1807.)

05 Jan 1785, Amherst: Richard Wood, bachelor, and Hannah Jopling, spinster. Surety William Wright, Jr.
Consent of her father Josiah Jopling.
Consent of his father Josiah Wood.

24 Apr 1789, Amherst: Samuel Bridgewater, bachelor, and Hannah Wood, widow.
Sur Joseph Jopling. Consent of Hannah.

it sounds like my ggggggrandfather died before hannah remarried.i am going to virginia in april,i will look for their graves,i think hannah might be buried in the bridgwater burial ground,i,ve heard that they have their own family cemetery.i am also related to the bridgwater family, edward page,s daughter sarah wood page married nathan c.bridgwater,i was told that they are buried up on the family farm without headstones, the farm is near massies mill.the name bridgewater is also spelled bridgwater.richard wood must have died about 1788 or there abouts.i am really looking forward to my thrird trip back to virginia.

I, too, am looking for any documentation on the parents of Richard Harvie, of whom it was said that Mary Wood "met up with" in order to determine if she actually married Richard Harvie and had ten children. Would greatly appreciate any help I can get in the way of documentation. Thanks! Anne Harvey Obara

*was this john wood married to polly anderson?*

I remember seeing Harvie's/Harvey's living near John Wood, one of the group
1 DNA matches on Porridge Creek in Amherst County. If I understand this,
here's a Mary Wood from the Josiah Wood family who married a Harvey in
Amherst County. Do you know anything about the John Wood in Amherst who
died and left a will in Amherst County in 1783? Some of his sons were named
Silas, Paul, Francis, Jesse. His wife may have been named Sarah, but there
is also a Mary Wood living near him and on records with him. Aaron Dehart
was one of the close neighbors and Abraham Lemaster and members of the
Lemaster family married several of these Woods from what I can remember.

*may i have a copy of that affidavit? please send in PDF format
