THOMAS, BARTLETT
John Thomas was in Brownville, Nebraska in 1907 when he wrote a letter to his niece, Flora Ann Bartlett. He mentions the following people: Curt; Uncle George; Roberts' three oldest boys (Tom in Oregon, Charley in Washington and Marion in Cafe Noam, Alaska); Maggie, who is teaching 20 miles from home; Bryon who is working at a store at Newton, Kansas; Bens' widow and 5 children. His sister is Susanna Thomas, wife of Mulford Corwin of Illinois. Any information appreciated.

I lived in Brownville as a child. The Thomas family ran a grocery store. Don't remember his first name, but his son was a classmate. His wife died not too many years ago in Auburn. I don't know if this is helpful, but at least something.

Is this the John Thomas who lived in Decatur Co., Indiana and married Margaret Leffler. Moved to Shelby County, Illinois and then to Nemaha County Nebraska. There is a John who was born 1830 and died in 1918 buried in Walnut Grove cemetery. I am looking for death date of wife Margaret.
children: Mary Louisa, Jacob, Mahala, Curtis, and Benjamin.

Found John Thomas born 1830 died 1918 buried in Walnut Grove Cem. in Brownville. Next to him is Curtis Thomas 1862 -1931 (death or buried date 9-21-1931) no mention of John's wife. Both of these have funeral markers instead of stones. (Schatz- Nemaha Co Volunteer)

Do you know which library I should contact to see if there was an obituary or death notice for Margaret or maybe a sexton for the cemetery who has records of burials instead of just stones? Who was the funeral home? They may have records. She is on the 1900 census in Brownville with husband John Thomas and on the 1910 census John shows he is widowed.
