He does not seem to be there in Rochester in the 1870 and 1880 census, but try the city directories at:

http://www3.libraryweb.org/lh.aspx?id=1105

and the newspaper index at:

http://www.libraryweb.org/~digitized/newsindex/1851-1897/Ind...

and the indexed 1892 state census of Rochester at

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1529...

and the index at:

http://www3.libraryweb.org/uploadedFiles/MCLS/Local_History/...

shows:

1877 Warner Daniel J., Jr. moved to to Amherst, Oh.

---possibly it could be him.

Hi thank you for the information and sites.
Is there anyway I can find out about someone getting divorced in 1868, found a newspaper clipping in the Rochester Union Advertiser-- of a Ada Warner divorcing Daniel Warner. Ada and Daniel Warner are on the 1865 census with George Warner and family.Thank you

The problem with divorces is that they may become contentious, and so are most often kept confidential for 100 years or more. The records are likely kept in the Monroe County Clerk's Office, and one would have to go there in person to get the case number. At that point, you could ask to see the files. You might get to see them, or you might not. We just looked at that citation and it's pretty bare bones.

Searching www.fultonhistory.com does yield a hit for Ada Warner about the divorce, but all it reads is that the divorce was granted.

Seems that Daniel might have been a politician of some note, but he would have been born about 1810/1811 if he was that man. The city directories seem to support that hypothesis.

Hi thank you for your reply, the politician Daniel Warner is Daniel Warner jnr born 1841 father. I did assume that it was Daniel jnr and Ada his wife.
Unfortunately I can not get to the Office, I am researching from England. Thank you for your help.

The 1855 census index (not yet online) does indeed show Daniel the younger as the son of the older politician. The younger man was born 1841 in Monroe County, and in 1855 they were living in the adjoining township of Gates NY (west of Rochester). When the older man dies in March of 1894, his obit reads, among other things, that he leaves a son Daniel of Chicago, Illinois.

http://www.cookcountygenealogy.com/ is the web site to search for old Chicago vital records.

Hi thank you for the information, all very helpful.
The 1855 census- does it have a George Warner born around 1837 ? George is the son of Daniel Warner senior and the half brother of Daniel Warner jnr. George had a daughter Esther (also known as Sarah)born in 1855.I think they are all living in Monroe. Thank you for your help.

We hope to be able to put the index online here at the library soon, but for the moment:

there is an entry for the township of Greece, NY which abuts Gates, where the other Warner family lives, and that one has:

George Warner, ae 22, born Monroe County, here 22 years, farmer
Jane Warner, wife, ae 19 years, born Canada, here 6 years
Sarah E Warner, ae 1 month, born Monroe County, here 1 mo.
