Searching for further info on the family line that descended from Abednego Collins b.approx.1812 in South Carolina, last known residence was in Winn Parrish 1870 census. Abednego was alone in census and was working as farm labor for family named Fergerson. Does anyone have info on why he was alone or what happened to his family? He had son's named George W., John Osbourne, and Edmond by first wife named Sarah (unknown) .... his second wife was named Sabra Bebee / Babee / Babe who had two children believed to be by another previous marriage "possibly"... but not sure. Their names were Sarah and Rebecca J. . Does anyone descend from any of these lines and would you have info you are willing to share?

The oral history of my family includes mention of Abednego. My great grandfather was Edward M. Collins, born 1853, variously known in the census as Edgar, Edward, Edmond and Edd. They were living in Winn and Grant Parish. There is a George who was a close relative of Edward's, possibly a brother. Please let me know if these two can be connected. I'll be glad to share. Thanks.

The U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules for year ending June 1860 lists Mary Collins 70 years of age, born in South Carolina as dying from Typhoid Fever in February 1860 in Winn Parish. It also lists John H?. Collins 17, Peter 38 Mary C 47, Polly Ann 2. I don't know if any of the other names fit into Abednego's family, but am fairly certain Mary was his mother.

I know this is an old post, but I descended from Abednego and will be happy to share any information I have that you don't--which probably isn't any. I also think that Sara Bebbe's children were by a previous marriage.

At this point I have little on Abednego (1812-1870). I show 2 wives; Sarah & Sabra. Having 3 children (all sons) with Sarah, and 2 daughters with Sabra but those are debatable and appear to be her's by a previous marriage due to fact he married Sabra in 1858 and the ages of the girls suggest they were born prior to that date.
