I am trying to locate cemeteries in the town of Slagle, Missouri. Am looking for Davis descendents. Have found two Davis brothers in Slagle cemetery, but would like to find the graves of Samuel Davis and his son John, my ggggrandfather and gggrandfather. Does anyone know what areas today may have been in Looney Township?

I have the 1979 cemetery book at home (I'm at work right now). I will try to check it this weekend and get back with you.

There are two Sam Davis' listed in the Polk County Cemetery book of 1979.

The first is Sam Davis, March 13, 1887 - n.d. in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

The second is Sam L with no dates in Enon Cemetery.

There are 7 John Davis' listed.

There is one listed in Slagle Cemetery. Here is his information.

John Davis October 24, 1824 - March 24, 1909.

There is also a J. I. Davis listed in Slagle Cemetery. The dates given are 1844 - 1929. It is unknown if this is a man or woman.

There is also one in Brighton Cemetery, which is not too far from Slagle.

John W Davis, 1852 - 1925.

Please let me know if this helped or if you need anything further looked up.

Thanks for the information..the Samuel that I am looking for would have been born around 1797-1799 and was married twice, I believe. He was married to a Lydia Murphy and then married a Mary after Lydia death, so would think that Samuel would be buried next to Mary rather than Lydia, where ever that may be. John, his son, was born about 1826 and was married to a Malinda/Lydia (possibly Gilmore). Both men were born in Tennessee and settled in Looney Township in Polk County, Missouri.
