I was wondering if the Grandmother Byrd mentioned in your query is definately a Byrd, or if she might be a Baird/Beard. Do you know if her lineage is documented. My Henry Beard lives in Goochland/Albemarle/Buckingham Co. VA, with the first record being in 1738, all on the Willis Creek, Willis River and Willis mountain. His descendants are still there as late as the 1870's. Henry Beard/Baird has land next door to Col. John Bolling, and also next door to Arbraham Childress and Joseph Childress and others. I have often wondered if some of the Byrds and Birds might not be Bairds and Beards. My branch of thise Buckingham Co. VA family spells the name Biard. Your thoughts?

Looking of parents of Sarah Murray Byrd Childers/Childress
1801-1859, married in Buckingham County about 1820 to John
Caughlan. One grandmother was a Byrd and one grandmother was a Murray. She is a descendant of Anne Bolling and Col. John Bolling. Has anyone come across any of these people?

I believe it is Anne Bolling b.~1718 daughter of Col. John Bolling. According to LDS records Anne Bolling married James Murray ~1740. They had a daughter (probably Mary Murray) according to LDS b.1754 who married 1774 to John Childers of Buckingham Co. VA according to LDS. They had a daughter b.1801 Sarah Murray Byrd Childress who married John Caughlan in Buckingham Co. VA. According to LDS Sarah and John Caughlan have a son named John Wesley Caughlan born 1832 in Buckingham Co. VA. If the above statements are true then a Mr. Childress (father of John Childers) most likely married a Byrd, in order for Sarah Murray Byrd Childress to have a Byrd grandmother, because her other grandmother is a Bolling/Murray. During this time period the Childress's and the Bolling and the Baird/Beard family all lived on Willis Creek adjacent or very near one another and have land transactions together.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I did copy a few records on the Childress's when I was getting the Beard/Baird PPT records from the Clayton Library in Houston. This is not an inclusive list for the Childress's only those that I noted, there are many Childress's on the Buckingham PPT's. Pleasant Childress (Childers) doesn't seem to be mentioned in any of the Buckingingham, Albemarle or Goochland Co. books that I have, but his name is at least on the 1783 personal property tax list for Buckingham, and possibly some of the other years as well.

1782 Thomas Childress 1 +21W, 1 horse, 10 cows
(He was listed between John Baird and Thomas Epperson)

1782 John Childress 0 +21W, 1 horse, 8 cows
(He was listed between William Taylor and Phebe Ridgeway)

1782 John Childress 1 +21W, 4 horses, 8 cows
