I am looking for any relatives of Elias Amos, I know that he had children by the name of Earl, Wesley, Earnest, and Opal. I have been told that all of the above listed are deceased. I do know that Elias lived somewhere around the Waterloo IA area. We also believe that Wesley would have been born somewhere around 1906. Would appreciate any Help!

Tami - Email me at dgood64015@aol.com. We have some similar names in our tree although my Amos family lived in Marshalltow, Iowa. Of course, families moved around back then as well.

I have the following information on an Amos family that migrated from Virginia to Stokes County, N.C. before 1830. John, Latney and Washington Amos are listed in the 1840 census. They and their father, Francis are in the 1830 census. Francis was from Goochland County, Va. and was born in 1773. His father, also named Francis was born in 1736. His father, also Francis was born in 1706. His father, thankfully not Francis but Valentine was died in 1731 in Goochland County.
I hope this will tie into your cousin Sandra`s information. If it does I can elaborate some.
Incidently this is not my family tree , I gathered this information along with info about my line. At one time in the late 1700`s there were 5 Francis Amos`s living in Virginia. You can e-mail me at wramos@aol.com.

I descend from this particular Francis Amos down thru George Washington Amos. I have information that I found while I was in the Stokes/Rockingham County area last summer. I would be willing to share info, if anyone has some other info.

I am related to a Lucinda Amos that married a Malachi Branham/Palmer in Patrick county,Va. in 1801 and her mother was a Mary Amos that owned land in Patrick County and deeded land to her new son-in-law in 1801...

As I said this is not my line so I`m not interested in any more about them however I do have a lot miscellaneous info, like a copy of Valentine Amos`s will that leaves evrything to his son Francis. Two years later Francis is listed in court records as being the first bankruptsy in Goochland county. Sort of like having a horse thief for an ancester!!!!
Also the Francis that migrated to Stokes county was married twice, to Nancy Profitt, Jan 24, 1799 and Patsy Grubbs Dec. 20, 1802.. I have a note that says Franci Amos was born in Va. C1772-73 and died Jan. 2, 1873 on Buffalo Creek, Stokes Cty. N.C. They had settled About 1808.
Stokes County Census:
1850
Sarah Amos, 36,born Va., children Ann 18 b. N.C, Robert 17 b N.C,
Washington Amos 49 b N.C. brick mason andElizabeyh 45 b Va.
Latney Amos 82
Francis Amos 77 b Va. Farmer- living alone
Richard Amos 44 b N.C. Wife Ann b Va. child Peter 17 b N.C.
1860 Census

Thober 30 brick layer
Ruhl 50 farmer
Brett 48 farmer
Latney 84

I hope this helps. If I can help any more let me know.
