My great grandfather was Levy Gallien from around Orange, TX, we think, but I am unable to find any information on him. Please help. His children were Sidney Gallien from Hayes, La., Susie Gallien Abshire from Kaplan, La., and Missouri Gallien from Hayes, La. If anyone can give me information I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I have my Gallier's going back to France - 1615. Researching census records,one family had the spelling of Gallien, Galien, Gallier - all in one family - the census takers were not all that literate. More than likely, as some of us have discovered, the census takers spelled the names phonetically because so many of our ancestors could not read and write.
The "Gallien" name was changed to "Gallier" when they moved to Texas, so if you cannot find it under "Gallien" look under Gallier.

My father (Sidney Sr.) had a brother named Cleveland Gallien,who lived in the Abberville (LA) Area and another brother Dennis Gallien who lived in Houston, TX. Other relatives resided in the Lake Charles, LA., area.

Cool Gwen....my name is Galliah and found out through intensive research that my true surname is Gallien...it became anglosized.
