I am the daughter of Herschel Frederick/Dora Alice Blocher Hadler, and granddaughter of WillIiam Herman/Henrietta Maria Krieger Hadler. I have just started researching my different family lines on the computer and found this site! I am interested in learning more of my Hadler family. I believe my Great Grandfather's name may have been Henry. I know my Grandfather had a twin sister named Matilda. From what I've been told, she and her husband ran a funeral home. I also think there was a connection to an Oshenschmidt (sp?), possibly another sister, who lived in Cincinnati and may have ran a candy store or bakery. My ancesters supposedly originated from Germany, but when I visited Europe in 1999, I found very few Hadlers in the telephone book in Stutgart Germany but column after column in the book in Vienna Austria. When my Dad was born in 1908, the family was living in Greensburg IN; they migrated to ND when he was 3. I found them in the census (think 1910) under the name Huddler. I found my Krieger relatives who have lived their entire lives in the Batesville IN area and they related what they could. I have visited cemetaries near Batesville and Greensburg and found two brothers, one buried under the name Hadler and the other using Huddler. Since the Hadlers in the US don't seem to be near as numerous as the Browns or Blochers on my mother's side, I would love to hear from anyone researching this name--who knows, we may all tie together somewhere up the line! Thank you.

Marvel,

I was interested in the origins of the Hadler name and happened across your message. The reason is rather lengthy but when I was in high school I was smitten by a Hadler and for various reasons have resurrected an interest.

It should be easy to research the Hadler name. Much easier than Hughes I suspect. By the way, my grandmother Winter taught Sioux Indians at Ft. Berthold ND. Kept a loaded pistol in the drawer I understand.

Hi, my name is Ken Hadler and I am the son of Stan Hadler who's father was William Hadler. I too am told our ancestors came from Germany but that is as much as I know about them and I in fact was born in Stuttgart, Germany. (My dad was stationed there in the U.S. Army and my mom lived with him there for a few years) I have never been back to Germany but would love to someday. I do know that my grandfather was born in the Theinsville, WI area. Do you know if we are related in any way or any other information would be helpful?
