I am researching the Philipp HAMMES family who settled in Orange County, California in 1859. They had 2 daughters, Olga and Amalie. It was Amalie who became betrothed to John Frohling. Their wedding was the first in Anaheim, California. I am a descendent of Amalie's, and would like to find others who are also descendents of these 2 daughters.

I am related to an older sister (assuming older) of Amelia and Charlotte Olga named Malvina. Source: Early Califonia Wills, Calif: California. Society , D.A.R., 1952 952 pg. Philipp's wife, Charlotta Frederica Luedke (Ludke) was a sister to Rudolph Luedke. He came to the US around 1850 and then went back on a passport to marry Malvina. I guess he married his niece. A researcher of marriage records that translates them in Russian Poland ran across the Luedke-Hammes 1854 marriage just by doing his job. Have you uncovered anymore information? Deene

I am a descendant of Olga Hammes. (self-described Polish, Prussian, etc.). I have been researching Amelie all weekend. New to ancestry.com. Please visit my public tree. I have a photo of Olga H. I will post. I also have oral history and notes from my father. I've been scouring the census data and have written a short story attached to Olga Hammes Wenzel, who married Edward Wenzel. She shows up visiting Phillip and Charlotte Hammes in Anaheim in a census. One of her children, Olga Wenzel was my great grandmother. Olga W. married Wm. Nicholson. Their two children were named Olga (of course) and Wm. Nicholson, Jr. (of course). This Olga Nicholson married my grandfather Louis Boman of Sweden. See Bowman-Leask Family Tree.

I am related to Olga Hammes, one of Philipp and Charlotte's daughters. One of the census says she arrived 1857. Our oral history is that she came around the horn.

She is my Grandmother's (Olga Nicholson Bowman) Grandmother. My great great, I guess. Please see my public tree for info. I will post photo of her ASAP.
Olga Hammes married Edward Wenzel in San Francisco. I know more about the Wenzels than the Hammes.

Uli, My family has a connection to Philip Hammes of Anaheim, CA. through his daughter Olga Hammes who married Edwards Wenzel in San Francisco. My grandmother (of S.F.) talked of the family in Anaheim, but other than that I only know the history through record search, and oral history.
Visit my family tree and see what you can make out of it re. John Frohling. He was married Amelie Hammes, but it looks like she was widowed, then remarried Carl Charles Eymann. Then it looks like she divorced C. Eymann and went back to her Frohling name. I hope this helps.
