Anyone out there with information on John Samuel or Samuel John Campman or Kampman, please contact me. I have seen the first name switched as well as the last name beginning with a K or a C. He indicated at the beginning of the Civil War that he was 19 years old and born in Prussia. He enlisted in Tazewell Co. Illinois and married an Ellen Culp there. Please help if you can!

My gggtandfather Wm Henry Arthur Kampmann was married in Clinton, IL 1858 and enlisted in the union army in St Louis in 1861. I haven't been able to find any of his family in IL. Do you have any info on the Kampmanns prior to the 1850s in IL?
