Lisa:

I am doing research on my mom's dad's side of the family.

Her grandfather was: William Thomas Layne
Born: 1852 DOD: 5/7/1919.

1st wife: Mary E. (Chambers) Layne; married 3-17-1874 in Williamson Co., TN

2nd wife: Nora (Potts) Layne (the connection w/my mom is w/the Potts marriage) was married 4-7-1897 in Maury Co., TN.

My mother's name is: Nora Eudora (Layne) Williams. All her friends/acquaintances call her: Dora.

Her father's name was: Brown James Layne, I he lived in W. Nashville until his death.

Her mother's name was: Gracie (Potts) Layne Mohamd (she married again later in life after Brown had passed away).

Brown Layne (my mom's dad) had the following siblings: Arthur Layne (he married "Evetine); Myrtle (Layne) Layne (she married a Thomas Layne they lived in the Nolensville, TN, area, she passed in the 1920's); Hattie May Layne (who married "Paul Johnson" 7 they lived in Goodlettsville, TN, she passed away in the 1990's); Elmore Layne (born 1909 (lived in the Nolensville, TN area, later married lived in Antioch, TN before he passed); and Frank Layne (who at that time lived w/Nora (Potts) Layne, his mother; he never married, was living in W. Nashville when he passed away).

I'm looking for Layne's in the TN, Arkansas, and Alabama area. My Dad is David Manuel Layne of Hartford, Arkansas. His mom and dad are Dave Layne and Bertha Layne. Can someone give me direction on my next step.

I'm sorry to tell you I never heard of a Dave or Betha Layne. I don't have any info. on Laynes in Arkansas or Alabama. The Layne's on my mother's side are all from TN. I cannot go any farther back than "William Thomas Layne". If you find him in any of your research, then we would most likely be related. Hope this was helpful. Trish/Gallatin, TN
