You don't have any info on Daniel and Phoebe(Crabtree) Throckmorton do you? They were both born in Jackson Co., Ohio

In Loraine B. Swiger's 1975 book, "Family Sketches of the Throckmortons of Southern Ohio" pp.155-157, it mentions Daniel Foster Throckmorton, bortn 1834, married March 4, 1858 to Phoebe Ellen Carpenter born at Athens, Ohio Jan. 6, 1840. The book says she died June 28, 1891, had daughter Irene at Clifford. Ohio. They lived at Crabtree P. O. Hope this helps. Swiger's index does not show a Phoebe Crabtree although lots of Crabtrees married lots of Throckmortons in Crabtree Corners.

Throckmorton traced to 1080 in England

My father, Robert W Coggeshall, in his book "Ancestors and Kin" has traced Throckmorton back to Gervais de Throckmerton (1080). Because Throckmorton is an English place name, there were at least 3 varient spellings (the 2 above) plus Throgmorton. In the book he provides information on the old Throckmorton manor house in Worchester county England, "the land having been in the family since at least 1130..." The book also provides coat-of-arms details of the arms first used by Sir John Throckmorton who was Chamberlain of the Exchequer for King Henry V, and who died 4-13-1445. I can't do justice here to the Throckmorton information contained in my father's book. In addition, he also "proved a line" that qualified me for membership in the "Royal Bastards" (Decendants of the Illegitimate Sons and Daughters of the Kings of Britain) through the wife of Lyonell Throckmorton (1525), their son Bassinghourne Throckmorton (1564), his son John Throckmorton (1601), and his daughter Patience (1640) who married Major John Coggeshall in 1655. If you're interested in the book, or a copy of the "proved line," contact me at coggesha@corecomm.net

Dear Pete,

Having purchased two of your books "Ancestors and Kin", I can't say enough positive things about this book. It is well researched and will thrill any Throckmorton with all the connections to nobles and royalty. All genealogists, great and small, need this treat!

Lynn,
Thanks for the very supportive comments about the book "Ancestors and Kin." However, I must point out that it was written by my late father, Robert W Coggeshall. The quality of his genealogy research is excellent, shown by the fact that he is the only genealogist to successfully "prove" 8 different lines to the satisfaction of "The Royal Bastards." If you want more info on the book or "The Royal Bastards," contact me a this address:
