Can anyone confirm for me that Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys, 1st Baronet (created 1626) had a daughter Catherine who married Robert Gordon of Straloch?

Thank you for your very prompt reply. Would you also happen to know if Catherine's mother was a Douglas of Glenbervie?

The "House of Burnett" website shows two generations (but no names, dates, or spouses) between Alexander, 9th of Leys (who married Janet Hamilton in 1543 and fought at Corrichie in 1563) and the Alexander (10th? of Leys) who died in 1619 and was the father of Sir Thomas the first baronet.

As I have yet to get my hands on a copy of "From Crannog to Castle" could you enlighten me anent those two generations?

It was about this time with Alexander the 9th. that the spelling started to switchbetween Burnet and Burnett. Most historians use the double T's from that period on.
The family line continued as follows.

JOHN BURNETT inherited the tile from his Father on 2 Sep. 1574.
He was married to Elizabeth Lumsden.

ALEXANDER BURNETT (death was before May 1578)
He was married to Katherine Arbuthnot. ca 1560

ALEXANDER BURNETT (death was on 5 July 1619)
He was married to Katharine Gordon ca 1578

His son Thomas became 1st. Baronet when he succeeded his Father to the estate of Leys in 1619.

Mr. Burnett:

Thank you for your quick answer.

So, Alexander Burnett of Leys, 9th Baron was succeeded by his son John Burnett of Leys, 10th Baron on 2 September 1574, but did John's son Alexander who married (c. 1560) Katherine Arbuthnott and died before May 1578 succeed as 11th of Leys or did he d.v.p.?
