I'm Tiffany Post, my dad's dad name was Pete Zigich and his father was Mile "Mike" Zigich from Pueblo, Colorado. I'm at a dead end and cannot find anything about the Zigich part of my family, I know my great grandfather Mile Zigich was from Cukovac, Austria and he was Serbian, he was married to a lady my great grandmother Martha "Mary" Zigich (I don't know her maiden name), but that's all I know. Can anybody please help me with anything at all, any information about the Zigich name and family. Thank you!

What US documents have you located on ZIGIC^ ancestor?

Zigic, Mile Cukovac, Austria 19 1891 1910 Could this by your grandather's arrival manifest in NY Ellis Island?

Since the location is in Croatia, you might want to post on Croatia's board.

When I look at the 1920 Census from Pueblo, CO it says that both my great grandfather Mile (mike) Zigich and his wife Martha (mary) Zigich were born in Yugoslavia. I also know that they were Serbian. I am really stuck and I don't have anybody in my family that knows, sad to say but true.

How stuck can one be when one has a location:
http://www.jewishgen.org/communities/loctown.asp
Čukovac locality 45°09' N 18°59' E E M U G Croatia 150.9 miles ESE of Zagreb 45°48' N 16°0' E
Cukovac populated place 44°36' N 15°27' E E M U G Croatia 87.4 miles SSW of Zagreb 45°48' N 16°0' E
Up to 1918 it was A-H http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm where 12 different languages were spoken. After the fall of A-H several new countries were formed and one was Yugoslavia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavia
The census is correctly having Yugoslavia and you have a location Cukovac which is in Croatia so your research is in Croatia.

You might try the church that Mile and Marta were married in? While you are there, if you want more information request their children's baptismal record. These church records should have a location and parents names.

The 1930 census would have a notation Na-naturalized; Al-alien or Pa-first paper. Follow up on the notation. If your Mike ZIGICH had a social security numbers than his SS-5Form should have a place of birth and parents names.

lilana27, I cannot read that attachment at all I speak and read only english. Could you please explain to me a little more about what you have found on my possible ancestors (Zigich/Zigic) and also about that attachment. I would love to be able to travel to croatia some day and really dig into my roots but that is not going to happen anytime soon so I have to do all my research from right here in my little town and on the internet. I really do appreciate any help or information you can give me, I have NO way of finding out A THING about that side of my family and it frustrates me. I hope to hear from you soon! Also I am not paying for ancestry.com right now so I can't send or receive messages, but I can get post's on the message board! Thanks Again!
