My G-Grandfather was Hiram Johnson of Kings Mountain, NC. I believe that he is enumrated in the Gaston County Census for 1910. Could someone be so kind, as to look him up and give me the information? Thanks.

Keith, Thank you so much for this information. I was hoping, that in some way, this might tie my GGrandmother to this Hiram Johnson. Lucy C. Johnson B. 1860 married Joseph Parker Roark before 1880. Her obit in 1938, says she is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Johnson. I believe that this is the only Hiram Johnson family close by, but I have not found a document to verify. Her survivors include a sister, Mrs D. Merrill of Gastonia. Hiram and Martha (Mary?) had a daughter Dicy. Could this be Mrs D. Merrill??? Also, the pastor in charge of her funeral service was the pastor of Loray Baptist Church. I noticed that John Franklin lived near Loray Cotton Mill. This tends to put her in the correct area of the Johnson family you have so kindly provided for me. Many questions, yet but this helps a bunch. Thanks again.

Anita,

We're rockin now!! Please post the OBITS for both Lucy and James Roarke AND any others that you have. Lot's of good clues can be pulled from these.

What I did find was that there was a Lydia Johnson Merrill married to a Luther Frank Merrill in Gastonia. I will provide the census and other data that I found for you to pour over and provide feedback.

Definite proof from the Gaston Co., NC Death Index show that Lydia's parents were the same ones in question. New clue is that Mary's (Lydia & Lucy's Mother) Maiden Name is CLARK.
