I am looking at paperwork that has as follows and was wondering if you know anything about this and/or if this is the same Basil Manly family ????????

State of North Carolina, Chatham Co, Aug 10, 1818 Brittain Gross (also spelled Groce ) an orphan, age ?9, was bound unto Basil Manly to live after the number of an apprentice and servent until the apprentice shall attain to the age of twenty-one years

this is the 2nd "Indenture" concerning Brittain Groce/Gross--the 1st read the same except it was with the Benjamin Gunter family ?? dated Nov 14, 1796 and Brittain was age 11

any clues ? Brittain/Britton Groce/Gross was my 3x great grand

Thanks in advance---------------pam

I suspect that the Basil indenture refers to a different child since the child with the Gunter family would have been 33 years old. However, it could be a child of the elder Brittain.
