Our earliest Davenport is Humphrey b. 1767. According to his daughter Rachel, her parents were born in NJ. (mother was Lucretia b. 1771). There was also a son Cornelius. These names repeat names in the NJ Davenport list. My question is where do they fit in? I have a lot of names, from Humphrey on(and will gladly share any info) but I surely would like to discover who his parents were! Can anyone help? Tia, Mary Lou Garland

Greetings.
You have said that you have names for the Davenport surname.
Would you happen to have an Ivan Davenport?
I believe he was born in 1898 and died in 1981.
He was married to "Freda" Fournier.
I'm not sure if he remarried, but "Freda" remarried to a Howard Colby.
If you can "relate" to Ivan, please let me know.
Thankfully yours,
Dave

Mary Lou, in case you are still interested, I have a news article from 1964 ( Jefferson Townhip NJ remembering Original Settlers - Humphrey , Humphrey Jr. , Cornelius and Enos discussed ) . In the paper is also a picture of a family gathering on the porch of Enos Davenport in Milton NJ - taken in the late 1800's .Identified in the picture were William Winterbottom , Jane ( Davenport ) Winterbottom , Fannie Winterbottom , James Davenport , Eliza Davenport , Emma Eckhart , Jim Eckhart , Mary McCormick , Ester Heady , Ulysses Davenport , Eugene Cooper , James Cooper Sr. and Rosamond Zeek . Most of these individuals appear to be children or spouses of children of Enos and Cornelius Davenport . I descend from Humphrey Davenport as well as the Eckhart and Bell families from the Milton/Newfoundland /Oak Ridge NJ area. The picture isn't clear but the write-up is interesting . Let me know if you would like to see a copy.
