The reference from 1860 in Vienna cannot be him given his birth date.
The 1902 passport application indicates that he has been travelling around the world as an artist for Messrs. B.W. Kilburn & Co., New York.
His first passport was issued in 1895; indicates he is single. If this is your great-grandfather, it would seem he was never married.
He must have served in WWI, as he is given a military internment in Pinelawn Cemetery, Long Island, New York; died 9 December 1939.
