Hello fellow searcher's

I have a booklet of all the inscriptions of headstones in the three cemeteries , Kirkwall - Stomness - Graemsay. Printed in 1999.

If you are tracing someone and can give me a name & spouse's name I will happy to look up and get the infomation to you.

This book was very helpful and saved me a lot of time when I visited Orkney last.

Hope I can help someone.

Hi Helen,
I have traced our family back to a John Thomson married to a Catherine Smith 5 children (parents William Smith and Mary Ann Kirkness from Stromness) 1841 Main Street Stromness Orkney islands. Occupation: Hairdresser and Hatter. Would love to know more about this family and how long they have been on the Orkney Islands.
With thanks

Dear Lynnie Flett

I think we have a common area of interest - Peter Flett and Jean Gorie.

Helen, the books sounds very interesting and useful.

I am hoping you are still active. I'm seeking burial info for May Muir died 26 Aug 1897 and is interred at Stromness cemetery. Her daughters, Jessie Muir and May Muir Spence may also be there. Thank you so much jean (Oregon)
