Records of incorporation etc for such groups may be on file in the Monroe County Court House downtown at 39 West Main St. The County Historian (Dr. Carolyn Vacca, now at St John Fisher College) might have information. And the city directories 1827-1940 and the county directories are online at the Rundel Library web site (www.libraryweb.org). Also there is a 63 volume old time newspaper index. The Rochester Images web site there has 32 pictures cataloged to American Legion; more may be in the picture file. Call the Local History Division at 428-8370 and maybe they can elaborate on what they have there.

Thank you very much. I currently have an email into Dr. Vacca. I will try the library at some point, but have not found the time.

I know Dr. Vacca personally, and she is very busy. It would not be unusual to have to wait a little while. But she's very good at her job.
