Death, George A. MacDonald, Rochester, 1940-1955

Hello,
I have found who I think is my relative George A. MacDonald on the censuses for Rochester from 1905-1940. According to the list of next-of-kin of Catherine Battell, nee MacDonald, George lived in Rochester in 1907. The one I have found has a wife Josephine (?Russell) who died before the 1940 census, and George sometime after. I don't know when but if he was born 1867 in New York, I would think not long after 1940. Can anyone find his death? Father born Scotland, mother born Canada.
Thank you.

What religion was he? And have you tried the Mt Hope, Riverside, and Holy Sepulchre online records.? The state holds back deaths for 50 years....but its also against NY state law to put that old index online.

I did not know to try those records but will do so now. The MacDonald family were Presbyterian.
thanks

Plus, the city and suburban directories give dates of death up through about 1960. They are not yet online for free anywhere that I know of.

The library staff MIGHT do a lookup for you; or perhaps someone reading this could do it in person. http://www3.libraryweb.org/form.aspx?ekfrm=1245
