I am wondering what happened to this German Lutheran CHurch which was located at Lexington Ave and 46 Street. in New YOrk City. I can find no record of it now. If it no longer exists, I would like to find out what happened to all its records as my husband's grandmother was christened there in 1890. I would like to find other family records for the Huttel family.

My branch of the Halsey family came from Fox, Virginia, moved to Tilden, Nebraska and ended up in Union, Oregon. We know of no relatives in New York

Try a book called "The German Churches of Metropolitan New York - A Research Guide" by Richard Haberstroh. It is available from the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society for $25.50. It lists a St. Peter Lutheran Church, 619 Lexingtion Ave, NY NY 10022. The book notes that the church was located at 46th and Lex from 1871- 1903. It is still operating(?) as I used to work across the street and sometimes attended noon services.

Thank you. I did find that book at the St. Louis PUblic library's geneology section and did find the church today. A person there very kindly looked up information for me. She found baptismal records but there were no records of marriages or funerals there.
