Looking for info:

I believe I am related to Rutherfords who first settled in St. Lawerence Co. New York Hence my interest in the listing:

186. John A Rutherford 1834-1918 St Lawrance Co New York family charts Listed in the post "WKR RESEARCH PAPERS BOX 4 PART 2"

I am the
son of Douglas Muster,
who was a son of Maye White,
who was a daughter to Mary E. Hymers,
who was a daughter of Jenett Rutherford who married Adam Douglas Hymers, Jenette had a brother John Rutherford who settled with his parents in St. Lawerence Co., New York and later moved to Wisconson with other siblings.

The little I know comes from a listing by Debbie Konietzki (cannot find her) about Hannah Bower Rutherford who must be a distant relative since my Grandmother is listed as having attended her funneral in a Walworth Co. Wi Obituaries listing.

John Rutherford, was born Abt. 1798 in Marchcleugh, Roxburghshire, Eckford
Parish, Scotland .. He married Margaret Deans June 06, 1817 in Eckford,
Roxburgh, Scotland. She was born Abt. 1797 in Marchcleugh, Roxburghshire,
Eckford Parish, Scotland ..

John Rutherford first settled in St. Lawerence County, New York around 1830

Children of John Rutherford and Margaret Deans are:
Jenette Rutherford, born 1822 in , Scotland; died September 04, 1902.
George Rutherford, born 1825. He married Maria McDermid.
John Rutherford, born 1828 in Scotland.
Archbald Rutherford, born 1820.
Margaret Rutherford, born 1819.

Jenette Rutherford married Adam Douglas Hymers ,also from Scotland, in 1846 and lived in a log cabin in the back yard of the "Milton House" hotel Milton,WI where Mary Elizabeth Hymers ( my great-great-grand-mother) was born on April 27, 1848.

Could these be the related and how could I investigate further what info you have about St. Lawerence Co Rutherfords.

Hi
You might try Family Records and Events written by Livingston Rutherford in 1882.
It was published in 1894 by Devinne Press New York.
Livingston was an Edgerston Rutherford from Scotland.
Major John was killed at Ticonderago. According to Livingston all Major Johns sons died either young or unmarried. He was a brother to Walter Rutherford.
Morris Rutherford of Warwick New York wrote a letter to George Ernest Rutherford in 1907 of Truckee Calif.. He said Livingston was never able to trace any other of the Edgerston Rutherfords who came to this country except his gg grandfathet Walter, brother to John.
The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record 1954.
Vol 85 page 238.
WKR and ACR Reasearch Papers.
There are letters to WKR from Morris Rutherford of New York written in the 1980's so this was probably a gg grandson of the original Morris.

Hi Gordon,
I found my GGGGrandfather's (John Rutherford) Bible when we were cleaning out my Grandmother's house, a few years back. Inside the cover he wrote his name, the year he received the Bible, and the town he lived in. I now know that our group of Rutherfords lived in Lisbon, NY (St. Lawerence Co.) before they moved to Wisconsin.

Hi, do you have any other information? Such as anything that shows the four Rutherford brothers, Andrew, Thomas, Walter, Richard, and Joseph, who migrated to the St. Lawrence Valley? I can send you what I have, but am trying to make the connection to their father in Scotland. I have found some things on the LDS site, but some of the dates don't work. This is my line: GGrandmother Lulu, GGGrandfather Joseph, GGGGrandfather Douglas, GGGGGrandfather Joseph. Thanks. timbeulen@yahoo.com.
