Looking for information on Elisamer (Elishomer)Martin b 1793, married Irene Ripley b 27 Aug 1792 Pittsford, VT. Married in 1813, moved to Ohio in apx 1815. I have found George Martin in the 1790 VT Pittsford census, on the same page as Phineas Ripley, Irene's father. Irene's mother was Experience Montague. Having trouble tracing the Martin line.

New information on this search probably indicates the parents of Elisamer (Elishamer, Elishomer, Elisha Jr, etc.) may be James Martin b 27 May 1757 in Rehoboth or Swansea, Mass, and Hannah Chase b 3 May 1770 prob. in Warwick, Kent, RI. James moved to the Berkshire, Mass area, then to Ira, VT. Ch: Jesse 1782, Lippit 1785, Phebe 1791, Whipple 1796, Lois, Mynerve, Hannah 1799.Any info appreciated.

My ancestor was Simeon Martin, b 1827 in Columbus, OH, moved to Memphis, Scotland Co, MO, in the 1850's. As far as I know, he didn't have a brother named Charles. Wonder if there was a Martin connection here, with both families moving to Scotland Co, MO.

My grandparents lived in Shelbina, just south of Memphis. I have my mother's life story about growing up there, if you would like it.

Carolyn - I was just re-reading Martin replies, and don't know if I answered your reply. Since my Martins ended up in Scotland County, MO, maybe there is a connection. Let me know if your Martin line goes back to Ohio or Vermont.
Thanks. Phyllis Zachow
