I am trying to find out the origins of the name. My grandfather is from the Sody Daisy area of Tennessee and that is all I can get out my family. Does anyone know of the origns(french, english, etc) of the name or know of a place where I can find such information? I can be reached at zulucapsgirl@hotmail.com. Thanks for any help.

My father(James L.Beene) has also linked our family w/the Judge. Said the first white child born in the territory of Tennesee was a "Bean" originally McBean. We have the McBean coat of arms. Now I'm really confused...Beene,Bean or McBean are we all the same?

Hi Beth
My mother is a Beene, her family comes from Arkansas and Oklahoma, and they have the same story,of being related to the judge and also the spelling of Bean and also McBean.I am just getting started in this, but I have an aunt and she says it has been traced back to McBean.Maybe we are related.

Hi, Beverly: The name was MacBean in Scotland, but the Mac was dropped before they
arrived in America. Captain William Bean,
Sr., and his family were the first permanent
white settlers in the territory which became
Tennessee. Their son, Russell, was the first
white child born there. Bean was changed to
Beene in 1825. I have much more information
and am willing to share.

Theresa, I have been searching for information on the Beene Family as well. My father was the eldest of some 10 children born in Beesville Texas 1916. My Grandfather was Barney Beene, born 7/24/1883 location unknown,Died 10/12/1983 in Corpus Christi Texas. He was married to Ozella Estella Clutter dob:07/20/1900 and died 01/23/1970. Mr. Grandfather Barney's father was Jim Beene who was married to a Sallie Ivey. No one who is still living in the family knows anything else about this family. My father died 20 years ago - but doubt that he would know anymore. Are any of these names on your Beene listings? An Uncle who is still living at age 61 says we were related to Judge Roy Beene - but I don't think he really knows - his name happens to be Roy as well. Anxious for answers - thanks Sharon
