Since I posted the original message I have received an over whelming supply of information ending in 1600s. Most of it starts in Albany County, NY so our Clutes may have a relationship. However my George was born in Ohio in 1860. Good hunting!

Since my original message I have received a great deal of information, more than I ever expected. My ggreatgradfather was George Nelson Clute born in West Lafayette, Coshocton County, Ohio on Feb. 9, 1860. His parents were Nicholas Frederick Clute and Mary Wells. He also had a sister Mary Clute. Is this part of your information?

Well, I never knew about the Frederick as a middle name, but Nicholas Clute and Mary Wells had Chester Evans, Frederick Gerardus,Mary Caroline, George Nelson andTheodore Wells.. The last four children were born Lafayette Twp. Coshocton,Ohio. I have their births and more information from a descendent and a copy of a letter from Nicholas. I see where he used F. as a middle initial, so I would guess we are talking the same man. His parents were almost surely.. Gerrit Clute and Elizabeth Fratt. Nicholas started out in West Troy,Ulster and then Ohio He married Mary Wells on 16 Oct 1853 in Ulster, Kaatsban,NY,
For George, my informatin is sketchy and would appreciate anything you might have. George Nelson Clute, born 9 Feb 1860 married Anna Philips. They had Edith ( Yates)Glen,Lena, Carol, George, Grace and Clifford. Again this all came in the letter of Nicholas..

Hi Richard, My great-great grandmother was Mary Caroline Clute, who married Lewis Chivens. The letter referred to by Stephanie is a copy of a portion of a letter written by Nicholas F. Clute which was in a box of papers given to my mother. I would be glad to send you a copy of our copy if you are interested. If so, please e-mail me at dlrmackey@juno.com. I would like to hear from you.
