Does anyone out there know of a Nancy Dawkins who was not married to Elijah Dawkins? She died in 1842 (Newberry District I believe, that's where her Will was recorded)and had either a son or a grandson by the name of William Lowe who married Mahala Felker. Her brothers were Thomas and Benjamin Lowe. Any help most appreciated.

I found a Nancy, who was born in 1801 and died in 1840. She was the daughter of Thomas, Jr., and Sarah. She married Joel Lowe Bradford. Don't know if this is what you are looking for. Marsha

Marsha, This is not the Nancy I am looking for. The one I am researching married into the Dawkins name. On the other hand, the names I research include Lowe, Dawkins, Bradford and your own last name, Brooks. Can you tell me where this Nancy lived and died? Where did the Bradfords live? Do you know the background of the Brooks name you are connected with? Thanks for anything else you contribute.

Nell, I found a Nancy Nuckek, who married Elijah Dawkins. His parents were Thomas Dawkins and Elizabeth. But he was raised by Frederick Gray Charlotte Dawkins Gray (his cousin). Elijah was born in 1765 and died ? (There are conflicting dates on his death.)The best that I can tell is Nancy died in either Fairfield Cty or Union Cty., SC, around 1844. The other Nancy married Joel Lowe Bradford or Samuel Bradford (conflicting names)
Also, Dawkins is also spelled Dockins, Dockens, and Dockings. As far as the Brooks' name, I know very little about them, except I married one, and we have been married for 33 years. The only thing I could find out about the Brooks' side were a few names and they were from Chester Cty., SC. Marsha

Marsha, this sounds suspiciously like the names I found in a cemetery listing in Union County at the Dawkins Cemetery.

General Elijah Dawkins
died 4-16-1831 (age 55 years)

Nancy Dawkins 2-21-1778---5-22-1861
daughter of John and Agatha Nuckolls

This is not the one I am looking for.

Could there have been two Elijah Dawkins that old? And the wife of the Elijah Dawkins you mentioned died about 1844 (around the right death date for the Nancy Dawkins I'm looking for) and the Nancy Dawkins in this cemetery died 1861! Help!!!!

I'll keep searching, and thanks.

I have just seen another name for this cemetery. It was callled Old Whig Hill Graveyard. I found it on the GenForum under Nuckolls-Nuckolls Every Where Web Site. There is information there about the Dawkins line also. Some of the information has different dates than what I found.
