Jack - what geographical area is gatshead located in? If it is Canada, I cna't help you at this time, as I have no information on the lines of Dryden that settled in Canada. It is possible that Ron Dryden (Dryden@kih.net) may have some info for you.

If this is an american Dryden Family, the William name is so common in the Dryden Books, that I need more specific info: Full name including middle or initial. Approximate year of birth, a good guess is sufficient. As detailed info as possible will really help find the right William.

the Dryden Books that I have available begin in the late 1500's in Scotland and England and come forward to the early 1990's. They are written and researched by Leslie P. Dryden, formerly of Maryland. They represent 40 plus years of research and are very well documented and extremely informative. Book 1 sells for $40.00 plus $7.95 US priority postage and handling. Book 2 is $27.00 plus $5.95 US priority postage and handling. They are both available fom me, Jim Scott, 938 So Alamo Rd #1, Alamo, TX 78516-9521. My email is jscott42@mail.com. If I may be of service to you drop me a note and we can go from there. Thanks for your return note, and I look forward to being able to help you. Jim Scott

Hi Jim,

I Have found the DRYDEN books, vol 1 2 to be very interesting. The origins and the paths that they took to get here. I didn't any of my elusive Dryden's there. Those that came to the Wiregrass Country of the South East are hard to trace back any further than about 1771. A John Dryden owned property in Bladen Co. NC, had at least one son, William Dryden who Married a Elizabeth Johnson, they in turn had a bunch of children. I have a lot of information on many of the desendants of this line.
