Have you found the Kaelin Ancestry Pages that someone (Debbie?) mentioned in earlier posts? You will find lots of info about Kaelins, and the very nice "webmaster" is from the PA area. Find it at
http://hometown.aol.com/Kalin14683/index.html
Note the spelling of "kalin".
My family here in Louisville, KY has quite a few "Martin" names, also. I don't know if that is a popular Swiss name or just in the section where the Kaelins started. The abbey there was started by St. Meinrad (read Martin). They came to our area of the country after the monks opened St. Meinrad Archabbey 65 miles from Louisville (in Indiana in the 1850's. Just a tidbit from a distant cousin! Eileen

Hi, just answering your post. I am a Kaelin, my father being Victor Martin Kaelin. His father was Martin Kaelin from Louisville I believe.
He was raised w/2 sisters, and then later found 5 other half siblings from a previous marriage of his fathers. (He did not find these siblings
until he was in his late 40's. We all live in Massachusetts, his half brothers and sisters are scattered from NH to Texas and in-between. I would love to know more about your family. Any ties?

Most of my immediate family are in the misitry (priests and nuns). I am just interested in the Family name. I work for a local college running a training program. I have just found this web site.

I have found two Kaelin lines in Louisville, KY. in the 1880's. One is kin to the Kaelin Restaurant and the other is not. Many Kaelins were located in the St. Matthews area. I am searching for Frank Xavier Kaelin who married Louisa "Lou" Heil. Frank was born December 1858 in Switzerland. Any info?
