I am looking for my husband's family. His family says they were related to Greenwood Leflore.
I found "Descendants of the Kusha Clan of Choctaw Indians" There is a Winna Winnie Lefleur b.1796 (Greenwood's half-sister and cousin) and found another place that said Basil was Greenwood's full brother, but have no proof. Hope this helps. Try

Message: It appears our lineage separates, however, I have tracked back to John Baptiste LeFlau who married Marie Jeanne Girard (French and Choctaw Indian), who sired Louis LeFleur who married Rebecca Cravat the daughter of John Cravat and Nhomtima (She Who Gives Things) The daughter of The Chief of the Kusha Clan of Choctaws. Rebecca and Louis sired one child Greenwood LeFleur (LeFlore). Rebecca must have died because Louis married Nancy Cravat, (Rebecca's sister) (which is the Choctaw custom). Nancy and Louis sired Clarissa, Louisa, Winna Winnie, Tobias, Forbes. Louis' 1/2 brother Greenwood married Pricilla Donley, Rosa Donley and Elizabeth Coody. Greenwood LeFlore's children were John Donley LeFlore, Jane LeFlore, Rebecca LeFlore. My line goes with John Donley LeFlore who married a woman named "Fanny" and sired Louis LeFlore, Greenwood, Louisa, Rosa and Fanny. The latest Greenwood also married a Choctaw Indian who is my GGG-Grandmother. That is all I have for now as I am still untangling.

I received you note in the LeFlore Surname Message Board. Unfortunately, there are many, many Leflore's and of those the lines break off quite often. I searched my family tree and was completely unable to find a Julia Viola LeFlore. She could have married one of the sons that I do not have a name for the wife. There are several LeFlore sons who I don't have the names of wives or children. There is an excellent web site you could check into to see if she is married to one of the LeFlores and then I could help you track from there. Go to http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/acres/1607.
Select "L" and then select LeFlau, LeFlore, etc. Actually the original LeFlore was Jean Baptiste LeFlau, so you can start there and see which son may have been the father of your grandmother. Once you have searched there let me know what you came up with and I will check my genealogy to see if there is a connection. If there is a connection, I will furnish you with plenty of information.

The LeFlores are from Mississippi. You can also track through Greenwood LeFlore which was the son of Louis LeFlore and he had several sons, brothers and grandsons. Greenwood LeFlore was a famous Indian Chief for the Choctaw territory. The LeFlau's originated in France and changed their name to LeFlore once they were in America. Prior to that the history in France is also tied to the Girards and other French families. However, overall, the LeFlore's once moving to America became involved with the Choctaw, Chickasaw, etc., Indians and the sons married Indian women.

I hope this helps. Feel free to email me at deborah.regester@gte.net as I check it frequently.

Have a wonderful evening,

Debbie

I'm looking for my fathers, father Lincoln LeFlore. They also called him Buster. He had a sister named Bertha, who moved north from Miss. to Detriot. I am surprised that I am unable to find anything because they tell me a lot about his history, which was not anything to brag about. Lincoln's (grandaddy) father was a Frenchman and his mother was an Indian. They also told me that it was a town or place full of his family, and in that town they had a graveyard that the family used, because they had to go there when his infant son died. I would really be greatful for any help. In his older age he had a bad back surgry and could no longer use his legs, but every Sunday he would get a cab just to see me.

All I can say is THANK YOU for that web page address for info on the kusha clan. I discovered 2 more generations of family as a result! Clarissa LeFlore and John (James) Wilson were my ggg-grandparents. Would be glad to share any info. as this leads to Wilsons.

Researchers:

Rebecca did not die while she was married to Louis. It was Choctaw Custom for them to have 2 wives. Louis was married to both at the same time. The complete Leflore history is on FamilyTreeMaker CD's, Vol. 6, #2525.

I'm a direct descendant of William Martha 'Patsy' (Walker) Leflore, via a son --John Long Leflore.

If I can be of further assistance, my e-mail is LynneLefloreT@aol.com

Thanks!!!
