My mother in law was a Lipka who married a man by the name of Nicoli Lupish. He came from Bellaruse. I understand that he was raised in an orphanage and escaped from there at an early age. He came to Canada and worked on my mother in law's farm. They were later married. he had a brother Michael who went to New Jersey USA and a sister who went to Maine USA. See my message under Lipka/Cheyko for further information. I would be interested in knowing if you could help me find any information about Nicoli Lupish and who his parents might have been. Since he was an orphan I suppose it would be hard. Do you know if there are any records I could access through the internet or even regualr corresponcence? thanks DMLupish@hotmail.com

good evening Judy.

Thank you for your information reply. I think we are in connection between your familyline by Petrus LIPKA. (In Polish PIOTR LIPKA).
In fact by a conjecture: the town place of Baranow Sandomierki is a country near Sandomier, where some poeples Lipka was also established after 1630( after the military campagne of Jean SOBIESKI, and later during the January insurrection 1863-64, where the LIPKA are engaged.
The sandomier country was a locality where many Tatares litewski (from poland and lithuan (Litwa) was established since XV century befor.

You could take note of these localities in a book of geographic Poland concerning all the hold locaties, (the towns places) in the ancient Poland: in the Historical ATLAS OF POLAND edited by the Department of the State Cartographical Publisher, Wroclaw (ISBN 83-7000-016-9 or ISBN 83-7000-016-1) You wil find in it the all place and localities indicated.

From hearing you, sincerely your.
